Court Appointed

Parenting Coordination is an alternative dispute resolution service offered to high-conflict co-parents who seek assistance in navigating decision making processes when impasse is reached. As Parenting Coordinator, Whitney Whitman is tasked with interpreting the parenting plan and working neutrally with both parents to carry out the court orders. Ms. Whitman facilitates the mediation of coparenting disputes and assist the parents in creating parenting and family systems that incorporate their children's needs. In most cases, Ms. Whitman will also make decisions regarding the children within the scope of the family's court orders.

Mediation

The tenant of the Parenting Coordination process is that parent's will make proposals to one another and attempt to develop a negotiated agreement about their child-rearing decisions. Ms. Whitman will facilitate co-parenting communication and monitor the negotiation process.

Arbitration

If the coparents are unable to come to an agreement, Ms. Whitman will either make formal decisions in a timely manner or else make formal recommendations to the parents and/or the court, depending on the scope of the Parenting Coordinator's authority.

Education

Whitney Whitman is trained in high-conflict mediation and Parenting Coordination, and will work with the coparents, separately and/or jointly, to provide education on negotiation skills, child development, and preventing Divorce Abuse.
